RAAF BASE TINDAL Aircraft Movement Apron (AMA) – Lighting

April, 2022

RAAF Base Tindal (TDL) was initially constructed in 1942, and then refurbished in the 1960’s. Following major reinvestment and development in the late 1980’s, RAAF Base TDL converted to an operational Base in 1988 as the home-base for No.75 Squadron

(75SQN), equipped with F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, and other RAAF Units. RAAF Base Tindal also has an Army presence through the Army North West Mobile Force (NORFORCE) detachment.

The majority of infrastructure and facilities were constructed in the 1980’s and is now approaching 30 years old. Avionics have been contracted to supply and install new Apron Lighting Masts and high performance ewo Luminaires.

Avionics will supply, install and terminate LV power supply, fiber communication cabling

and supply, Install and commission the PLC based control panels and software for the light poles and control locations.

The new facilities and infrastructure provided by the EST00346 TDL Redevelopment and EST00347 KC-30A projects must be delivered while maintaining full operational continuity of RAAF operations, and civilian aircraft operations that also utilise the airfield on Base.

Avionics will complete testing, verification and commissioning of the AMA Floodlighting system to ensure seamless integration with the base
